The Story
This 1970 Dodge Charger R/T was purchased new from Burgin Dodge on Clinton Highway in Knoxville, Tennessee, by Mr. Douglas Goddard. Mr. Goddard meticulously maintained this piece of American muscle history for many years. However, due to health and life circumstances, this once-roaring machine sat dormant in a dusty—but dry—garage in South Knoxville for the past 15 years.
Recently revived through light mechanical recommissioning by a local Mopar expert, the legendary U-Code 440 Magnum V8 Four-Barrel engine once again comes to life. This VIN-matching, St. Louis-built Charger retains its numbers-matching engine and 727 automatic transmission. The car is accompanied by both its original fender tag and build sheet, adding significant authenticity and collector appeal.
Factory features include the original black vinyl hardtop, black vinyl bucket seat interior, factory air conditioning, 26-inch radiator, three-speed wipers, turn signal indicators, drip rail moldings, belt moldings, AM radio, power brakes, remote racing mirror, performance axle package, and iconic hideaway headlights.
The Charger currently runs and drives, and the brakes are functional but would benefit from additional tuning and servicing. The fuel system has not been serviced. The car shows approximately 40,300 miles and carries a clean title. Cosmetic notes include an older repaint and a small repair to the rear passenger-side fender area.
Combining documented authenticity, matching driveline components, original documentation, and unmistakable Mopar styling, this 1970 Dodge Charger R/T presents an exciting opportunity for collectors, restorers, and enthusiasts seeking one of the most iconic muscle cars of the era.
